Basketball Recap: Burbank's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Burbank and St. Patrick-St. Vincent squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Burbank had to settle for second. They came up short against the St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins, falling 78-57. When it comes to explaining why Burbank lost, don't look at Michael Butcher. Despite the final result, he shot 47% from the field en route to 22 points. The contest was Butcher's third in a row with at least 17 points. Cedric Sydnor was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

St. Patrick-St. Vincent's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ronald Rhymes, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Rhymes is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Christian Trusclair, who shot 53% from the field to rack up 20 points.

Burbank's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points over those games. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-13 record this season.
