Baseball Recap: Highlands Ranch's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

The third road contest was the charm for Highlands Ranch, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Valley Christian Trojans on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Noah Mortenson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Mortenson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trevor Gottsegen, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Garrett Williams was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Highlands Ranch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Highlands Ranch's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Valley Christian, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Highlands Ranch wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-2 victory against West Point on the 21st. As for Valley Christian, they will challenge Legend at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
