Basketball Recap: Freedom Comes Up Short

Freedom lost against Durant back in December of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Freedom Patriots fell 50-41 to the Durant Cougars. The Patriots' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Durant can attribute much of their success to Matthew Suarez, who posted 16 points. The contest was Suarez's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Niko Sosa, who scored eight points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Durant, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-19.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freedom won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sports Leadership & Management at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Durant, they will be taking part in a tournament against Tampa Bay Tech at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tampa Bay Tech is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season.
