Softball Game Preview: Jeffersonville Red Devils vs. Seymour Owls

Jeffersonville hasn't had much luck against Seymour recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Devils will head out to take on the Owls at 5:30 p.m. Jeffersonville has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jeffersonville is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Charlestown, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Devils have suffered against the Pirates since May 18, 2015.

Jeffersonville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ally Young, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Seymour's offense. They lost 10-0 to Floyd Central on Tuesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Owls, who until this match were averaging 3.29 runs allowed.

Jeffersonville's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Seymour, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-5.

Jeffersonville beat Seymour 3-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
