Baseball Recap: Sandia Prep Sets Scoring Season-High Against St. Michael's

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sandia Prep). They came out on top against the St. Michael's Horsemen by a score of 17-12 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Sundevils: when they faced off against the Horsemen last Tuesday, they had to take a 9-0 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Logan Lemons, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with eight RBI, two triples, and three runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Hardcastle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs.

Sandia Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Sandia Prep and bumps their season record up to 4-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for St. Michael's, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-6.

Sandia Prep wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 4-3 defeat against Cobre on the 5th. As for St. Michael's, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-9 win against Portales on the 5th.
