Softball Recap: Woodrow Wilson Bruins vs. Millikan Rams
Woodrow Wilson dropped their record down to 13-13 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 5-1 to the Millikan Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in April.
Tallulah Watts made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
As for Millikan, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.
On Millikan's side, Lauren Cantwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Julia Dizon and Ella Burleson did most of the damage at the plate: Dizon went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Burleson went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Burleson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Morgan Zimmerman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
