Basketball Game Preview: Surry County Cougars vs. Charles City Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Surry County Cougars duke it out with the Charles City Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Surry County is looking for their season's first win.

Two weeks ago, Surry County lost to Northumberland on the road by a 51-32 margin.

Despite the defeat, Surry County had strong showings from Zariah Harrell, who posted five points and ten rebounds, and Wenonah Johnson, who earned six points.

Meanwhile, Charles City never let Carver College and Career Academy onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory two weeks ago. The two-point effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Charles City now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Surry County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything came up roses for Surry County against Charles City in their previous matchup back in December of 2015, as the team secured an 82-13 win. In that match, Surry County amassed a halftime lead of 49-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
