Volleyball Recap: Fiona Shipman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Raleigh Charter over Voyager Academy

Raleigh Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Voyager Academy Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

Raleigh Charter took Voyager Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-17, 8-25, 17-25, 15-10.

Raleigh Charter's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fiona Shipman, who had six aces and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Shelby Payne, who had three digs, two aces, and one block.

Raleigh Charter's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Voyager Academy, their victory ended a six-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-8.

Raleigh Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against East Wake Academy on the 23rd. As for Voyager Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Neuse Charter on the 23rd.
