Volleyball Recap: Raleigh Charter Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Shelby Payne and Fiona Shipman

Raleigh Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Voyager Academy Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

Raleigh Charter wouldn't go down easily and took Voyager Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-17, 8-25, 17-25, 15-10.

Fiona Shipman and Shelby Payne certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Shipman had six aces and three blocks, while Payne had three digs, two aces, and one block. Another player making a difference was Devyn Bucholz, who had seven digs and two aces.

Raleigh Charter's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Voyager Academy, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-8.
