Football Preview: Nordhoff Rangers vs. Hamilton Bobcats

Two dominant backs in Jameson Moya and William Hamlett are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Nordhoff Rangers will take on the Hamilton Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Nordhoff, who comes in off a win.

Nordhoff is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Channel Islands to the tune of 41-7 on Friday. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 33 points or more this season.

Nordhoff can attribute much of their success to Moya, who gained 207 total yards and two touchdowns, and Michael Dennie, who threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt. Moya also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Nordhoff is 6-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. A healthy portion of Dennie's aerial production (90 yards to be exact) went to Jeremy Kirchner.

Nordhoff didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kirchner and Uriel Covarrubias. Another thorn in Channel Islands' side was Christopher Calderon, who forced a fumble, made seven total tackles, and defended four passes.

Meanwhile, Hamilton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 21-16 to Vasquez. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hamilton might have lost, but man, Hamlett was a machine: he rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

Hamilton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Nordhoff, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
