California high school football: Week 9 schedule, scores

It's not the only contest on the high school football slate this weekend but certainly the biggest as No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) visits No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) at Panish Family Stadium.

The annual Trinity League showdown has national ranking implications as the Monarchs are also top-ranked in the MaxPreps Top 25 and the Braves enter at No. 9.

The field will be littered with talent that will play Saturdays in college and possibly beyond as the two teams have a combined 76 players with at least one FBS offer.

In addition to the Mater Dei-Bosco showdown, there are a handful of intriguing matchups throughout the state including No. 14 De La Salle (Concord) at No. 19 San Ramon Valley (Danville). The 6-0 Wolves are led by quarterback Luke Baker, who has thrown for nearly 1,900 yards and 22 scores. The Spartans have won four straight after an 0-2 start.
