Baseball Recap: Franklin Knights vs. Oil City Oilers

Franklin had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 9-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Oil City Oilers, falling 7-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Oilers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in April.

Franklin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Marsteller, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Oil City, their record is now 6-11. The match marked their most dominant victory of the season.

On Oil City's side, Will McMahon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts McMahon has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oil City, they are taking a road trip to take on Rocky Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
