Basketball Game Preview: Camden Bulldogs vs. Lancaster Bruins

The Camden Bulldogs will face off against the Lancaster Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Camden has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Lancaster will arrive with eight straight victories.

On Tuesday, Camden was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to York. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 13-7 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Lancaster earned a 59-50 win over South Pointe on Tuesday. Given the Bruins' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Stallions are ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lancaster's win came from a few key players Camden will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jordan Watford, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 15 points in addition to four steals and four blocks. The game was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Columbus Parker, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 16 points.

Camden's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Lancaster, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1.

Camden was taken down by Lancaster 95-68 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023.
