Football Game Preview: Indian Creek Braves vs. Madison Cubs

The Indian Creek Braves will head out to face off against the Madison Cubs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Indian Creek got the win against Monrovia by a conclusive 40-18. Considering the Braves have won four games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Indian Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Evan Clark out in front who rushed for 112 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries, and also threw for 136 yards and one touchdown on only 11 passes. Those 112 rushing yards gave Clark a new career-high. Drew Pingleton was in the mix too, providing Indian Creek with two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Indian Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.

Indian Creek didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jaxon Green, Rhys Shand, and Alec Burress picked up one apiece. Indian Creek got some further help from Nate Nash: he made 15 total tackles.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Madison had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past Owen Valley 47-14 on Friday. The Cubs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Indian Creek pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.4 points on average over those games. As for Madison, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-8.
