Basketball Recap: Brashier Middle College Charter Takes a Loss

Brashier Middle College Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the Landrum Cardinals, falling 68-45. While losing is never fun, the Bengal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Cardinals are ranked 84th).

Defeat or not, Brashier Middle College Charter got some senior leadership from Andrew Hutchens and Ridge Bryson. Hutchens went 5 for 12 en route to 14 points and five boards, while Bryson posted 15 points. What's more, Hutchens also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nate Hagan, who scored six points.

Leading Landrum to victory were Benett Edwards and Noah Dodd. Edwards went 7 of 10 on his way to 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds, while Dodd went 5 for 9 en route to 16 points and seven boards. Edwards is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Coleman, who earned eight points and ten rebounds.

Brashier Middle College Charter's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Landrum, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.

Brashier Middle College Charter will head out on the road to take on Greenville Tech Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brashier Middle College Charter is facing Greenville Tech Charter at the right time seeing as Greenville Tech Charter is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Landrum, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Landrum Cardinals face off against the Blacksburg Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Landrum knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Blacksburg likes a good challenge.
