Baseball Game Preview: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Gustine Reds

The Hilmar Yellowjackets will square off against the Gustine Reds at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Hilmar is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mariposa County a 12-0 shutout.

Javi Mena was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Kohen, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Gustine got the win against Pacheco on Wednesday by a conclusive 10-0. The Reds haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Everything went Hilmar's way against Gustine when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Hilmar made off with a 15-2 victory. Will Hilmar repeat their success, or does Gustine have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
