Recap: Palo Verde Titans vs. Willcox Cowboys
The Palo Verde Titans''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Willcox, falling 47-13.
Although Palo Verde took the loss, they still got scores from Luis Molina and Kameron Pippen.
Willcox found their leader in underclassman Ismael Cuevas, who rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Another player making a difference was Remington Todd, who gained 78 total yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Palo Verde to a paltry 128 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Willcox's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out eight times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by David Allred and Oren Allsup who racked up four sacks between them.
Palo Verde has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight contests, which gives them a 1-7 record this season. As for Willcox, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palo Verde will take on Catalina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Catalina is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Willcox, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Benson at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Benson is ranked 165th, while Willcox is ranked 150th).
