Basketball Recap: Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Valley Christian Panthers, falling 75-55. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 41-38.

Despite the loss, Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Annelise Curran dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten rebounds. Curran is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. Alia Lutzo was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Valley Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Wilbur-Creston-Keller the next time they take the court. Valley Christian will head out to face Wilbur-Creston-Keller at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame will head out to face them on Friday.
