Basketball Game Preview: Resurrection Christian Cougars vs. University Bulldogs

The Resurrection Christian Cougars will take on the University Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Resurrection Christian sitting on nine straight wins and University on 22.

Last Wednesday, Resurrection Christian earned a 49-37 victory over Eaton.

Resurrection Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Olivia Klein out in front who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Callie Gillespie, who put up 14 points.

Meanwhile, University has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 28.64 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Highland 58-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since February 23, 2024.

University's win came from a few key players Resurrection Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Addison Harding, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 55% in the last six games she's played. Maddie McNair was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to 12 boards and five steals.

University pushed their record up to 22-0 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points over those games. As for Resurrection Christian, their record is now 21-1.

Resurrection Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over University when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 60-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Resurrection Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
