Preview: Cambridge Bears vs. Lassiter Trojans
Cambridge has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Lassiter Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Cambridge had to settle for a 34-31 loss against Kell. Cambridge has not had much luck with Kell recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Meanwhile, Lassiter was able to grind out a solid victory over Pope on Friday, taking the game 47-39. The victory was all the more spectacular given Lassiter's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Pope is ranked 97th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lassiter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Hortman, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Malia Loadwick was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 5 steals.
Their wins bumped Cambridge to 3-4 and Kell to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Cambridge against Lassiter when the teams last played back in December of 2020 as the team secured a 56-25 win. Does Cambridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lassiter turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
