Basketball Recap: Edinburg North's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Edinburg North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Veterans Memorial Chargers.

Despite the defeat, Edinburg North saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raul Palacios went 8 for 13 on his way to 19 points. That was a full 40.4% of Edinburg North's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Enrique Leal Jr, who put up eight points.

Edinburg North's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-11. As for Veterans Memorial, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season.

Edinburg North will finish 2024 at home by hosting Rio Grande City at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Edinburg North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season. As for Veterans Memorial, they will host St. Joseph Academy at 12:00 p.m. on December 28th. Veterans Memorial is facing St. Joseph Academy at the right time seeing as St. Joseph Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
