Having covered the De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) football team for more than 10 years, it's become routine for photographer Dennis Lee when he works with them.

But he knows it's a privilege to work with one of the most historic football programs in the nation.

Lee, who is based in the Bay Area and is a member of the MaxPreps Professional Photographers' Network, photographed three top players along with head coach Justin Alumbaugh during a preseason photo shoot in May.  

"I know it's a privilege to cover their team, but it's like routine for me," Lee said. "I'm a regular at their home games."

The photo shoot was staged on campus using the football stadium as the backdrop. Lee began by taking a few photos of the three players dragging tires on a side field at the end of a team workout.



Lee enjoys handling the portrait shoots more than game coverage.

"It's more personalized than covering a game," Lee said. "It's fun and goofy and something outside the norm for the players." 

MaxPreps Senior Writer Mitch Stephens, Videographer Scott Hargrove and Director of Photography Todd Shurtleff were on hand to help assist and document the photo shoot featuring the top ranked team in the nation.

De La Salle opens its season in Texas on Saturday against Trinity (Euless) at Vernon Newsom Stadium.
