Football Recap: Foothill Comes Up Short

Foothill lost against Huntington Beach back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Knights fell 21-14 to the Oilers. The Knights were down 21-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Although Foothill took the loss, they still got scores from Derek Simecek and Fysher Jamieson.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Matt Claytor Johnson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Foothill; they were averaging 3.8yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 4.5 per game.

A big part of Huntington Beach's win came down to the chemistry between Brady Edmunds and his top target Troy Foster. Edmunds threw for 219 yards and a pair of TDs while Foster picked up 117 receiving yards and two scores. Foster's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 117 receiving yards.

Foothill has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Huntington Beach, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Looking ahead, Foothill will challenge El Dorado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Huntington Beach, they will take on Crean Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Oilers will need to watch out since the Saints have now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups.
