Soccer Game Preview: Loyola Academy vs. Lyons

The Loyola Academy Ramblers will be taking part in a tournament against the Lyons Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Loyola Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let DePaul College Prep get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Loyola Academy's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 34th, while DePaul College Prep are ranked 118th).

Meanwhile, Lyons was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Libertyville, falling 3-0.

Loyola Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three contests. As for Lyons, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5-1.
