Basketball Recap: Seth Bledsoe Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pinecrest Academy

Cornerstone Prep Academy had lost three games at home, but after bumping their record up to 3-5 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 55-43 victory over the Pinecrest Academy Paladins. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 58-46 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Cornerstone Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Seth Bledsoe led the charge by dropping a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Bledsoe's sixth in a row with at least 20 points. Luke Archer also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Pinecrest Academy fell to 2-1. The loss put an end to their undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, Pinecrest Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Michael Lynch dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. Lynch is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Lucas Miles, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 15 points.

Coincidentally, Cornerstone Prep Academy and Pinecrest Academy will both be playing The King's Academy the next time they take the court. The Cougars will head out to face the Knights at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Paladins will head out to face them at 7:45 p.m. on Monday.
