Basketball Recap: Emerald Takes a Loss

Emerald lost against Southside back in February of 2018 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Emerald Vikings fell to the Southside Tigers 48-42. The Vikings just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Emerald still got an impressive performance from Da'Marquis Hopkins, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Key Holloway, who posted four points in addition to eight boards and six assists.

Emerald's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Southside, they moved to 5-10 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emerald will venture away from home to take on Fountain Inn at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southside, they will head out to square off against Wren at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Wren's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
