Baseball Recap: Bayard Rustin Comes Up Short

After flying high against Avon Grove last Friday, Bayard Rustin came back down to earth. The Golden Knights lost 15-5 to the Great Valley Patriots on Tuesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Golden Knights, who until this contest were averaging four runs allowed.

Jackson Roche was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The loss snapped Bayard Rustin's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record. As for Great Valley, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayard Rustin will take on Unionville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Knights 4, the Longhorns 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Great Valley, they will square off against Oxford at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
