Basketball Game Preview: Tucumcari Rattlers vs. Texico Wolverines

Tucumcari hasn't had much luck against Texico recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Tucumcari Rattlers will face off against the Texico Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. Tucumcari has given up an average of 61.6 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Last Thursday, Tucumcari ended up a good deal behind Santa Rosa and lost 65-48. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Lions are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Texico entered their tilt with Hagerman on Friday with five consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 66-55 victory over the Bobcats.

Tucumcari's loss dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Texico, they pushed their record up to 25-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home.

Tucumcari lost to Texico on the road by a decisive 73-57 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Tucumcari avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
