Basketball Recap: King Cove's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

King Cove blew Manokotak out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Manokotak got their revenge. The King Cove T-Jacks and Rookies fell just short of the Manokotak Lynx by a score of 61-59. The T-Jacks and Rookies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lynx apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, King Cove saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Riley Wilson posted 27 points. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for Wilson. Another player making a difference was Michael Chase Gould, who had 16 points.

Manokotak had a senior duo take command as Jethron Nanalook put up 30 points and Nevaeh Gloko earned 23 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Nanalook has scored at least a third of Manokotak's points.

King Cove's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for Manokotak, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bristol Bay the next time they take the court. King Cove will head out to face Bristol Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Manokotak will host them at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
