Softball Recap: Childress Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Childress challenged River Road on Friday. The Bobcats came up short against the Wildcats, falling 11-3. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Ansley Parr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and nine unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Childress saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Felton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Addi Edmondson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Childress' loss dropped their record down to 12-11-1. As for River Road, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Childress will face off against Tulia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for River Road, they will square off against Canadian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. River Road's pitchers better be ready for this one: Canadian has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
