Softball Recap: Desert Sunrise Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Desert Sunrise took a 17-run loss the last time they faced off against Cortez, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Hawks had just enough and edged out the Colts 11-9. This was a revenge game for the Golden Hawks: when they faced off against the Colts on Tuesday, they had to take a 26-9 defeat.

Atiana Fuller was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Fisher, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Desert Sunrise always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .600 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Desert Sunrise's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-10. As for Cortez, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Desert Sunrise wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-4 defeat against Tempe on the 15th. As for Cortez, they have also already played their next contest, a 17-1 loss against Yuma on the 15th.
