Softball Game Preview: Wilder Wildcats vs. Rimrock Raiders

Wilder is 0-10 against Rimrock since May of 2016 but things could change on Monday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. Wilder knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Rimrock likes a good challenge.

It was a proper cat-fight when Wilder challenged West Jefferson last Wednesday. Wilder fell just short of West Jefferson by a score of 33-32. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (11), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

M. Longest led a balanced group of hitters, scoring six runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was A. Scott, who went 5-for-6 with four runs and four RBI.

Meanwhile, Rimrock unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Idaho City last Tuesday, falling 31-8.

Wilder now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Rimrock, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Wilder couldn't quite finish off Rimrock when the teams last played back in April of 2022 and fell 13-11. Will Wilder have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
