Soccer Game Preview: St. Thomas Aquinas vs. Newfound Regional

The St. Thomas Aquinas Saints will head out on the road to square off against the Newfound Regional Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Newfound Regional took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Thomas Aquinas, who comes in off a win.

St. Thomas Aquinas will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Monday, then bounced right back against Sanborn Regional on Wednesday. The Saints were the clear victors by a 6-1 margin over the Indians. The result was nothing new for St. Thomas Aquinas, who have now won seven contests by four goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Newfound Regional's offense. They lost 6-0 to Gilford on Wednesday. Newfound Regional have struggled against Gilford recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Newfound Regional's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their win bumped their record up to 9-1-1.

St. Thomas Aquinas took their victory against Newfound Regional in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0 score. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
