Baseball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

Eastern extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-13. They came up short against the Mason Bulldogs, falling 23-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 on Tuesday.

As for Mason, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Mason's part, Logan Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Davis posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Gerrit Koot was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Colton McCaleb was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Eastern has already played their next contest, a 24-5 victory against Sexton on the 23rd. As for Mason, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 1-0 win against Tecumseh on the 27th.
