Softball Preview: Chalker Wildcats vs. Leetonia Bears
The Chalker Wildcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Leetonia Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chalker has three straight wins, Leetonia has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Wednesday, Chalker made easy work of Badger and carried off a 15-2 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
Tatum Hudak made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Chalker got a massive performance out of Katelyn Cook, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave Cook a new career-high. Abby Grimm was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Chalker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
