Baseball Recap: Dexter Comes Up Short

Dexter extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-11. They came up short against the East Mountain Timberwolves, falling 28-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Timberwolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 35-0 back in March.

As for East Mountain, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For East Mountain's part, Cole Darnell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Darnell has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and three doubles.

In other batting news, Charles Birdwell was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. He has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Dalton Springall also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Mountain beat Dexter by a score of 31-0 later that day.
