Softball Recap: Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts' Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts dropped their record down to 14-3-1 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They fell 3-0 to the South Pittsburg Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in March.

JYLIAN HARBIN spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On South Pittsburg's side, Kaylee Kilgore made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Kilgore was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Briley Masterson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts will head out on the road to take on Grace Baptist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Pittsburg, they will host Grundy County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates are facing the Yellowjackets at the right time seeing as the Yellowjackets are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
