Baseball Game Preview: Corvallis Spartans vs. Woodburn Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Corvallis will face off against Woodburn. The Spartans will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Corvallis has three straight victories, Woodburn has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Corvallis made easy work of Woodburn and carried off an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Axel Prechel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Logan Lassiter was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That stolen base was his first of the season. Andrew Street was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Woodburn's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Corvallis, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
