Preview: Arbor View Aggies vs. Spring Valley Grizzlies
The Arbor View Aggies will head out on the road to face off against the Spring Valley Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Arbor View had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 59-33 margin over Durango. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 14 more assists than your opponent, as Arbor View did.
Arbor View can attribute much of their success to Talyiah Mckinney, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals, and Sanai Branch, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 steals. Another player making a difference was Araya Davis, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley was fully in charge on Wednesday, breezing past Durango 67-18 at home. With Spring Valley ahead 40-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Arbor View's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Spring Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Arbor View was taken down by Spring Valley 71-24 when the teams last played back in January of 2019. Can Arbor View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
