Softball Recap: Shady Spring Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Shady Spring extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 11-8 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Princeton. This was payback for Shady Spring, who suffered a 6-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jenna Joyce spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shady Spring saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lacy Osborne, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Princeton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row.

On Princeton's side, Zoey Agnew was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Coming up, Shady Spring will square off against Hoover at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 4, the Huskies 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Princeton, they will challenge Montcalm at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Generals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.08 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
