Baseball Recap: Taft School Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Taft School ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Loomis Chaffee School Pelicans 7-6. For the Big Red, this counts as revenge for the 7-5 win the Pelicans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Omar Minaya, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Jettelson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Taft School lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Taft School, bringing their record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Loomis Chaffee School, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Taft School has already played their next contest, a 9-2 defeat against Avon Old Farms on the 17th. As for Loomis Chaffee School, they will head out to challenge Trinity-Pawling School at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
