Basketball Recap: Stanberry Takes a Loss

Stanberry lost against Rock Port two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Stanberry Bulldogs were outmatched by the Rock Port Blue Jays and fell 61-31. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 507th in Missouri, while the Blue Jays are ranked 165th in Missouri).

Rock Port found their leader in sophomore Jack Meyerkorth, who went 9-for-22 on his way to 21 points and seven steals. The match was Meyerkorth's fourth in a row with at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Ellis, who posted 14 points.

Stanberry's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Rock Port, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 23-4.

Stanberry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rock Port, they will face off against Platte Valley co-op [South Nodaway/Jefferson] at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
