Recap: Trinity Tigers vs. Mercy School Institute Mustangs
This season hasn't been kind to the Trinity Tigers, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 35-21 to Mercy School Institute. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Trinity of the 46-22 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
Mercy School Institute found their leader in underclassman Lujayn Alkalani, who scored 24 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Alkalani has scored at least a third of Mercy School Institute's points. Habiba Amin was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Trinity bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.3 points per game. As for Mercy School Institute, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8.
Trinity does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mercy School Institute will be playing in front of their home fans against Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
