Soccer Game Preview: Carmel Christian vs. Providence Day

Carmel Christian hasn't had much luck against Providence Day recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cougars will face off against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Carmel Christian comes in on five and Providence Day on eight.

Carmel Christian's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Queen's Grant 8-0. Hallie Lacina was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Providence Day beat Cannon 2-0 on Tuesday. Given Providence Day's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked first, while Cannon are ranked 69th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Providence Day's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-0-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those eight contests. As for Carmel Christian, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Carmel Christian might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Providence Day in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
