Basketball Recap: Maclay Comes Up Short

Maclay had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-13 to make it seven. They came up short against the Blountstown Tigers, falling 61-39. The Marauders were down 47-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Maclay lost, don't look at Beau Beshears. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Dion Rogers II was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

As for Blountstown, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points over those games.

Blountstown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Martin, who shot 63% from the field on his way to 22 points and three steals. What's more, Martin also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2025. Another player making a difference was Cyion Smith, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.

Maclay didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 88-38 defeat against Port St. Joe on the 8th. As for Blountstown, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-31 win against Malone on the 9th.
