Softball Recap: Ysleta Find Success

Ysleta's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Austin Panthers an 18-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their one-run performance the contest before.

The team relied heavily on Savannah Jurado, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Cienna Hernandez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Ysleta's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Austin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Ysleta will challenge Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rangers have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Austin, they will square off against Bowie at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 23.67 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
