Football Recap: Kaleb Fenner Key Part of Team Effort in Chieftains Win

Yutan won the last time they faced Arlington and things went their way on Friday too. The Chieftains put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 28-8 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Chieftains just coasted through the last quarter.

Yutan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaleb Fenner, who rushed for 103 yards and one score.

Yutan didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Arlington to a completion percentage of just 38.9%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Kale Hoffer and Jaxon Wood, who each logged one passes deflected. Yutan wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

Yutan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Carson Holst, Ryan Maguire, and Maddox Wentworth picked up one apiece.

The win made it two in a row for Yutan and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points over those games. As for Arlington, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yutan will challenge Aquinas on Friday. The Chieftains will be up against the Monarchs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.57 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Arlington, they will take on Tekamah-Herman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
