Softball Recap: Bountiful Picks Up 13th Straight Win at Home

Bountiful faced Box Elder in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Bountiful narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Box Elder 2-1. The game snapped a strange streak: the last six times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Ella Miller spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isabeau Hoff, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Bountiful pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Box Elder, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1.

Bountiful and Box Elder will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time Bountiful sees the field they'll take on Bonneville at 3:30 p.m. on April 8. As for Box Elder, their break will end when they face Woods Cross at 3:30 p.m. on April 8.
