Baseball Game Preview: Vista Panthers vs. Escondido Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Vista Panthers take on Escondido Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Vista 3.8, Escondido 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Vista is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on San Dieguito Academy with a sharp 17-2 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, on Monday Escondido's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against Fallbrook.

Escondido's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Vista, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
