Peoria extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-15 in the process. They lost 16-5 to the Greenway Demons. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Demons since on Saturday.
Dominick Ramirez put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Ramirez was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Jesus Aguirre was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Daniel Taegel, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Greenway, they moved to 9-11 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Like Peoria, Greenway also got a great game from a two-way player: Caden Lord. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Lord a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs.
In other batting news, Trevor Myer was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He also got three hits, which is notable because Greenway is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 6-11 otherwise. Justin Oliver also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Peoria does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Greenway, they have already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Dysart on the 28th.
